SK time-stamping service to restrict the use of SHA-1 and SHA-224

16.12.2015

As of 4 January 2016, new principles for time-stamping service provider (v 1.2) shall be implemented, restricting hash algorithms in time stamp requests. As of 04 January 2016, time stamp requests using SHA-1 or SHA-224 hash algorithms will no longer be supported. The change is due to the vulnerability of SHA-1 and SHA-224 hash algorithms.

The use of SHA-1 and SHA-224 algorithms is already restricted in time-stamping service in the public test environment (http://demo.sk.ee/tsa/).

The applicable principles for time-stamping service provider are available here.
The description of SK’s time-stamping service, which is based on the RFC 3161 standard, is available here.
